His resume boast a who's who of A-list hip-hop royalty from E-40, Keyshia Cole, Snoop Dogg, D'Wayne Wiggins (Tony Toni Tone'), Richie Rich, Sugar Free, Kokane, Glasses Malone, just to name a few. He's featured on some of the Bay Area's most classic underground hits like Messy Marv & San Quinn's Explosive Mode single "Bay Luv", and C-Bo presents The Mob Figgaz "Sparkin Flamez". Don P has wen't on to release several nationwide albums including his latest "Talkin Bout Money", which is available on iTunes now!! The album fosters such radio and underground hits as "You're With Me" ft R&B singer Matt Blaque, "Distractions" ft The Jacka, and a rare appearance on "Supastar" from Oakland's own R&B diva Keyshia Cole. ABM caught up with him to see whats new with the hardest working man in the game.
ABM: What got you your start? what got you to the level of working with such pinochle artists?
Don P: We'll I just been blessed to get to do what I love to do… I'm just having fun with it, I feel like anybody who works hard and stay on they grind will hopefully see some type of reward from it. I'm just trying stay focused … I mean really you know how life can bring all types of distractions, but I'm happy with how things are moving right now.
ABM: Obviously the song "Distractions" with you and the Jacka was a huge song and video, what was it like working with Video Director Collin Tilly?
Don P: Dope! Colin is a good friend of mine and when it was time to do the video for distractions, he came by my house… we was chilling out, burning one… and he heard the song, and he said yo Don… I got the sickest vision, you gotta let me shoot the "Distractions" video! Naturally I was juiced! I mean this guy is one of the most talented directors in the game today! He ended up shooting Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Diddy, Akon!! Wow!! Hats off to him. Needless to say he did a awesome job on my video, I'm very happy with it, hit up youtube and check it out if you haven't seen dat g-thang haha!
ABM: What are you currently working on?
Don P: We'll right now… I'm wrapping up a new mixtape, getting ready to drop it, I'm in the studio constantly coming up with some new dope. I been doing a lot of sixteens for other artist's lately, I guess a real nigga is a flavor everybody is in the mood for again right now… haha! I'm doing a bunch of shows and traveling the globe!! Everything I can to wake they game up, ya feel me? Let them all know that the Bay Area got dope, ya feel me?
ABM: I feel it, so any big news for Don P that the public might wanna know about?
Don P: Haha yeah I been working hard and I kinda stumbled into a situation thats in the works with Dorrough and his Prime Time Click Label. I been hanging out in L.A. and just workin on a few video sets and just getting the vibe of the movement and I'm happy to be in position ya dig! So I will keep ya'll posted on that, I'm feeling good about it! Just pushing forward. It don't stop!
