ABM- So how'd you get your RAP name?
I got my rap name cause everyone use to call me Rich, due to the smoke shop I had up north, basically from having one glass counter, to a huge shop with a whole bunch of stuff in it, that shop is called Irie Motivations. So everyone called me Rich over there, and my friend Fresh Nasty, he showed me how to make beats, and he basically showed me the software to make beats, using software like fruity loops. So after he showed me how to make beats, my friend had a Richie Rich comic book, and Cashanova is in the Richie Rich comic books, which I use to read often. So from reading the Richie Rich comic books for 50 cents, I ended up naming myself "Rich Money Cashanova".
ABM- Where you from?
I'm from Los Angeles, California. . .Korea Town, or we call it K-Town.
ABM- What are some of the experiences you have growing up there?
I grew up around a lot of Korean Gangsters. I'm from a hood called "Korean Mobsta's", my experiences have been a very fast life, get money quick, in any way you can, you know. I got locked up for about a year, came out and my mom had moved to San Jose, so I kinda followed suit. I've lived from San Jose, which is where I learned how to blow glass. I use to go to Berkley to sell my glassware, at a wholesale level. Eventually we ended up moving to Ben Lomond, which is near Santa Cruz, and thats where I ended up opening my store, Irie Motivations.
ABM- Ok, so on to the music side of you'r life, what are you currently working on?
Ok so I got Rich Money "The Beginning", which is the first album I have ever made. I don't feel like its great, but a lot of the beats are tight, and it's something that made me transition into becoming a better artist. Reason I didn't put it out is cause I wasn't satisfied with the album, but I am gonna end up putting everything out anyways. I self criticize my work a lot, which is why when people ask me when I am putting it out, and fact is until I'm satisfied I don't feel like it would be a good album to put out, but for the fans sake, I'm gonna start dropping them. I also have two albums done, one is called "Cashinova Pop" Album which I made in Los Angeles. The other album I made is with Former No Limit Rapper Don P, from Oakland, which is called "Kush Hour", which features me, Don P, Nump Trump, Mack B, and all the production by your's truly. The album was recently put up on iTunes, and is available for purchase, support your boy!
ABM- Whats some of the big accomplishments you've had in your career?
Biggest accomplishment I've had, is just getting this far. It's been a long road, I've done a lot of shows in Hollywood, you can google me "Rich Money", and first suggestions is me, so I feel like I am getting somewhere, although I do know I have a long road ahead of me, I have invested a lot of money with the wrong people, over $5000 I invested into a guy named Al Snead, who was supposed to do some work for me, never did!!Just a example of someone I believed in, and they were just out there to fuck someone over. So I have learned a lot, I have experienced a lot, and I know what needs to be done nowadays. At the same time I make music not for the fans, but for me. I love what I do, I feel I am good at it, and hopefully I can achieve a status in the industry thats bigger than where I am now. A lot of people might wonder where I have all this type of money to come up with to invest into people such as Don, or other artists, and all that came from slanging weed, and going hard. They always say you have to have a million hustles, I say you just have one good hustle, and you'll have enough from there for the rest of your hustles.
ABM- What influences you to go forward with your music?
Basically just me, you know! Theres a lot of whack rappers out there, couple white rappers, I'm an asian artist/musician/rapper. I wanna be one of the few asian artists from the states who make it out here. Theres plenty of asian artists doing well overseas, I wanna prove to myself I can do it here. Regardless If I do not make it, I will not be mad if I don't cause at least I tried, which is a lot more than others do, so I go in with no regrets, its something inside me that I have to do.
ABM- Where can people find you?
Find me on Google, Twitter @RichMoneyCash, Facebook Rich Kim, and my website is called ImRichMoney.com, also YouTube type in Rich Money Cashinova.
