What is your stage name?

[Lil] Mikey The Money Boy.

What is your background growing up?

I was born and raised in East Oakland, California. I always had a passion for [music that I] grew up around […]. When I was 12 my mom moved to [90th and 15th] Avenue — that’s how I linked up with Quise tha Criminal (R.I.P.) & the rest of the Allendale crew.

How did your career take off?

By 2006, age 16, I started taking music and exploring the Hip Hop [scene] more serious[ly] by [recording songs] while printing […] my first [tape] to […] distribute [in] the Bay. In 2009, I [caught] the attention of Oakland […] native Dret [“T.H.A.”] […] which we would [link] together and form the label […] which included DB Tha General, Quise Tha Criminal, Rico Tha Kidd, DJ […]. They […] [released] “Better D[…]” [and] my solo mixtape called “Yu[…]” […] on fire, and would let every rap [fan know] that [Lil] Mikey is a force to be [reckoned with on] the scene.

What ever happened with you and […] Entertainment?

[I] parted [ways] with Badmouth and DB due to […] [a] mixtape called M.O.[…] […] I [came] back […].

I remember a few years [back you and] Badmouth had an incident that [put you in the] hospital — can you elaborate?

[In] 2010 […] and [I] was shot 5 [times, causing] me to be in a coma for […].

What happened after you got out [of] the hospital?

…I am being managed by Money-B of Digital Underground, and I am [preparing] to release my mixtape [“Eastside] Nino” in 2016. I am [now] under [a joint] label of my own imprint and Foreign Gang/CEMC. In 2015, fans can expect to hear more music from me, including the […] compilation mixtape that will drop first quarter.

Who musically inspired you to [become a performing artist]?

My musical inspiration comes from one of the [greatest in] Hip Hop, 2Pac, and Young Money’s [Lil Wayne].

What’s your most recent single to date? Tell us about it.

The latest single released is called “GRINDIN”, which was [released] a few weeks ago; more music coming in first quarter, including [visuals].

Any project you’re working on?

My latest project is “EASTSIDE NINO” MIXTAPE Vol. 1, hosted by DJ Bulletproof, which was released this year and [is] currently available worldwide.

What is your most favorable moment in music?

I really do not have a favorable moment in music right now except that I am still alive […]. [Working with Lil] Wayne will be [that] moment for me. He is one of the [greatest] in my opinion since 2Pac.
