Big Dave

aka Fat Doo · Irvington district, Fremont

ABM: What is your name?

F: My name is David Hernandez a.k.a. Fatdoo.

ABM: How did you get your name, "Fatdoo"?

F: I got my name from my best friend who I balled with back in high school. He was murdered back in 2000.

ABM: Tell us about your background-where you're from, what kind of music you listen to, your favorite artists, who your influences are, etc.

F: I am from the Irvington district of Fremont, California. Much love to the woods and square sets. But I fuck with all my real Bay nigguz from the SCO, Richmond, Oakland, the stack, Union City, San Jose and everywhere else. We out here, nigga. Bay life. As for my favorite artist, I don't really have one but I listen to all forms of music-from rock to reggae and rap. Even country if it sounds hood. *Laughs*

ABM: What made you pursue a career in music?

F: Really, I just wanted to do what I love as my career. I've been into music ever since my pops used to bump some oldie tunes around me as a youngster. But shit, I do it all from production to throwing shows. I even like to actually get in there and build a studio. The Monstuz and I are really doing it for real, for real. You feel me?

ABM: What have you been working on lately?

F: Lately, I've been working on the li'l homie, Mack Musky's album. His shit go man and he's got the hustle to back it up so we're gonna get it. Also, the self-titled, "Monsta" album and yeah, nigga! I am the original monsta of rap. Y'all just copy the name. Feel me? But it's all hood. The truth will be told!

ABM: How was your recent record release party with Erk Tha Jerk?

F: Man, did you see the video that hit YouTube? *Laughs* It was dummy, man! Damn, my nigga Erk killed it! He really put on a great show, for real, and he brought out the females.*Laughs* Shots out to Swaggalife Ent. and Princess J for coming out and hosting the event. Look out for their new show that's gonna be on Comcast soon! And my nigguz, the Ballatix and Draztic murdered it as usual!

ABM: Tell us about your mixtapes.

F: Well, we came out with a mixtape right before the iHeart Music Fest last summer. It was with the Ballatix. We hit Vegas hard with a few thousands and came back with a tree case. What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. *Laughs* But I've got a new one hitting in about a month with Mack Musk from the Ballatix and Left Field Music. So be on the lookout for that, man.

ABM: Do you have any new hot songs or features that the public should know about?

F: Man, I've got this new song produced by my nigga, Slapmaster, featuring Kool John. Man, that shit is so turned up. It go. Shots to Kool John, Skip and Iamsu! They're pushing hard right now and really keeping us on top!

ABM: Who are some of the artists that you have worked with?

F: I have worked with lots of people from the Bay, show-wise. From Andre Nickatina to e-40. But as far as albums, I've got the Ballatix, Beeda Weeda, Ap9, Kool John, Slapmaster, Waka Flocka, Yukmouth and a few others. Ohhh! I can't forget my nigga, J-diggs. Shots to all my real thizz nigguz out there, man! Yeeee!

ABM: What do you have coming out?

F: I've got lots of shit hitting the streets from mixtures, albums, videos and shows. And blunt wraps coming soon, as well. They're good! Not gator throat. *Laughs*

ABM: Do you have any recent project that you've done, even for the community?

F: I stay active right now. I'm working with a league that helps the underprivileged youth to play sports and stay off the streets. I'm no super role model or anything like that, but I try and help when I can. You feel me?

ABM: Where can people find you?

F: You can find me at yo woman's house, nigga. *Laughs* Nah, but you can find me on YouTube, on Twitter: @therealfatdoo or in the Bay. I'm not hard to find like some of these scary fucks.

ABM: Do you have any last words?

F: Shots to Rico at the Sound Theory for putting up with my crazy schedule and helping so much with the album! Also, Slapmaster out in the 707. He's got slaps, man, and he's a true cat so I fucks with him and my nigguz at Nu-Ricks Records for really promoting my shit and getting me out there. And last but not the least, all my brothers and sisters at Elemental Wellness in San Jose. Y'all showed love from day one. Now we're gonna blow this true OG Kush in the VIP, for real! Yeee!
