ABM: What is your stage name? Tell us the story behind how you chose your artist name?
SaraKashani: I actually just go by my own name “Sara Kashani”. A lot of my friends call me “Kash” so maybe one day I will change it, but until then I like going by my own name.
ABM: Has anything happened in your life that led to the decision of becoming a musician?
SaraKashani: I never really decided to become a musician. I just know that it’s the only thing that brings me pure happiness, so why would I want to do anything else for the rest of my life? Growing up, I always felt like the odd kid out, so when kids were playing at recess and being social, I was in the library writing songs. That’s how I started writing at a young age and over time I developed my skills. 5 years ago, I was looking for a studio in the bay to start working on my craft professionally and I found Redwall Studio and the rest is history!
ABM: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there?
SaraKashani: I grew up in the Silicon Valley and always found myself going to the city as an escape. The suburbs always felt too slow for me and as someone who’s mind races a million miles a minute, I always appreciated the hustle n bustle in the city. When I was growing up, I used to drive to this one cafe in SF and songwrite for hours. The bay is my home for life!
ABM: What are your last full length releases people can go check out right now?
SaraKashani: “Bay City Love”! Kiing Sky and I released this E.P. on 12.18.18. You can find it on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music and more. I also just released my single “If I Want To” on all streaming platforms.
ABM: What are you currently working on?
SaraKashani: I’m working on my first solo EP which is both exciting and nerve-wrecking at the same time! I’m still trying to figure out my sound and every day it changes, but I’m loving what I have so far and I know people are going to vibe with it.
ABM: What’s your last visual release people can check out, tell us about it.
SaraKashani: I did a visual for our song “Bay City Love” off the E.P. I went around the city and had a hella good time sharing some of my favorite spots like the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf. I’m working on a visual for “If I Want To”, so be on the lookout for that as well!
ABM: What is your ultimate goal at the end of your career?
SaraKashani: I want to make a positive impact on this world and use my voice for the better. I see so many artists who have such a large voice and can reach millions, but aren’t using their power to make change. I can’t really understand that.
