coming out of North Oakland. He created a iconic hip
hop brand called Bearfaced Entertainment, and its
clothing brand Bearfaced clothing;

BM: How did you get the stage name HD? HD Bearfaced: The name is HD, well
you know obviously it stands for "High Definition" cause that's how I'm comin at ‘em
you feel me, but its biblical. My name is actually Howard Demaar Sturghall. My aun-
tie gave me that name when I was a kid, ever since then my whole family been calling
me HD. Once I started rapping I was just like * it, the streets and family chose my
name forme. ABM: Where did you grow up at? HD Bearfaced: Ice City, Gunnaf-
omia. Really really I\e stayed all around the bay: I'e stayed in a couple places Vallejo,
Berkeley, but the majority of my life though, I was in North Oakland. I was born there
and my whole family is from the North, 6st, 55th, thats the hood, where i was bon and breaded. ABM: How did
your neighborhood get the name "Ice City"? HD Bearfaced: Ice City, man, because its cold out here man. It gets
cold out here literally you have to wear your coat. It comes from the "North Pole, North Oakland, it’s been before
us, We just put a new twist on it you kno its sill the original neighborhood "North Pole”, really: ABM: So you just
touched down, and came right out and dropped an album, tell us about that. HD Bearfaced: Full fledged, I had no
time to wait bra. ‘They smacked a nigga for four and a half months. Yeah man, a punk-ass little case on this proba-
tion shit, litte violation. You can go back at anytime. Iwas just living life and unfortunately gota violation. Itwas
some time for me to think, because at that time I was in the middle of destruction. Getting sucked in to the stree- ts
can stagnant you that time helped me. Itallowed me to sit down and strategize and come up with a initial plan you
know: We picked back up with the one that just dropped, "Originality Nothin Else", you know keeping this origina
-keeping this shit one.
