Rapper Sean Price died in his sleep on Saturday morning (Aug. 8) at his apartment in Brooklyn, his representative confirmed to Billboard. He was 43.
The cause of his death was unknown at time of publication.

“It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015,” reads a statement from his reps. “The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He’s survived by his wife, and his three children.
Sean Price, who turned 43 in March of this year, was a beloved rap artist. He was 1/2 of the group Heltah Skeltah, a key member of the Boot Camp Clik, and a successful solo artist, known simply as Sean Price.
Sean’s family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news. Further details will be issued when more information is available.”
Price (who initially performed under the name Ruck) was one-half of hip-hop duo Heltah Skeltah, which released its debut album, Nocturnal, in 1996. The group also included Jahmal Bush, who performed under the stage name Rock. The two rappers were also members of the hip-hop supergroup Boot Camp Clik.
Price released his first solo album, Monkey Barz, in 2005 on Duck Down Records. His latest album, Mic Tyson, was released in 2012. Price and rapper Ill Bill were said to be working on a collaborative album titled The Pill. There’s no word yet on whether that project will be released.
